Seattle Police have asked members of the Leschi community to attend a special meeting from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight at the Central Area Senior Center on 30th Avenue South and King Street.

Just weeks ago, on Oct. 31, two Seattle police officers were ambushed while sitting at the intersection of East Yesler Way and 29th Avenue South. Officer Timothy Brenton was killed, and his partner, Britt Sweeney, was injured. Christopher Monfort, 41, has been charged in the shootings.

Update: According to Times reporter sbhatt, the house near Erie & Superior has been cleared and the suspect was not found. He is believed to be armed and dangerous. Barricades are also being removed around the area, letting people back to their houses for the first time in hours.

After entering the home and discovering that Clemmons was not inside, authorities tracked Clemmons to an area around 32nd and Yesler at about 9 p.m., where officers believed Clemmons was dropped off bleeding from wounds, said KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Amy Clancy. See video.

Police responded to the home at East Yesler Way and 32nd Avenue South around 8:44 p.m. A woman who was leaving the home was stopped by officers and told them Maurice Clemmons was on the property and bleeding, according to a law enforcement source.

The fatal ambush came nearly a month after the fatal Halloween ambush of Seattle officer Tim Brenton, 39, who was killed while discussing a traffic stop near 29th Avenue and East Yesler Way. His partner, Britt Sweeney, was wounded when a .223 round tore through her bulletproof vest.
