    A women's shelter once occupied the 33,000-square-foot American Hotel building at 520 S. King St. But that shelter moved and its zoning classification as a hotel made it easier to convert it to a hostel, Shapiro said.

    A reader who lives on North 92nd Street near Stone Avenue says the nearest intersection on Aurora Ave is at North 90th Street. When trying to cross Aurora on 90th, the reader estimates that 75 percent of the cars going westbound on 90th are trying to turn left onto Aurora.

    Officers found the truck at 15th Avenue and East Spring Street. They arrested three suspects: two 19-year-old men and a 22-year-old woman.

    On 10/4/09, at approximately 11:15 p.m., 911 received numerous calls of shots fired in the area around 125th and Lake City Way.  One of the callers/victims stated  that a suspect had taken at least 3 shots at his car as he had driven by at 125th and Lake City Way.

  • 15th and E. Spring St. Strong arm robbery suspects captured

    Officers located the truck at 15th and E. Spring St., and the three occupants were taken into custody.   The driver (female) and two adult male suspects were booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.  In addition the driver was booked for Investigation of Assault.

  • Dakota at Rainier Court Toddler Died Because of Window Flaw, Suit Alleges

    The child, Honor Cornell Callandret, had been living at the Dakota at Rainier Court apartments for just more than a year when he tumbled through a fourth-story window on July 15, 2008, according to court documents. The child suffered fatal injuries in the fall and died later that day.

    A witness followed the suspects until, while near 16th Avenue and East Spring Street, two of the robbers got out of the truck and fired at least one shot at the witness, striking his car. The witness backed off.

  • 700 block of N. 90th St. Alert neighbor foils would-be robber

    A sharp-eyed resident of the 700 block of N. 90th St. noticed a man break out the back window of his neighbor’s house and enter on Oct 2. At about 9:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to the scene.  Upon arrival officers covered the front and back of the house.
