About Crime Reports
In this section of EveryBlock, you can find out about criminal activity near you, from robberies to homicides to prostitution.
The information comes from the Seattle Police Department. For each incident, you'll find the date/time it was reported, the date/time police believe it occurred and the type of offense. We also provide the offense number, in case you're interested in doing further research on a particular incident.
Here is the police department's official description of the information:
"These incidents are based on initial police reports taken by officers when responding to incidents around the city. The information enters our Records Management System (RMS) and is then transmitted out to data.seattle.gov. This information is published within 6 to 12 hours after the report is filed into the system. Within 2-3 days some of the narratives (Homicides, Assaults, Robberies and Burglaries) will include additional detail."
The information comes from Data.Seattle.Gov, Seattle's government data site. We at EveryBlock update our site from this data twice a day.
