Seattle police were called about 12:18 a.m. Nov. 2 to Fifth Avenue and Battery Street, where they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the incident report. Brister and Myles died at the scene.

Crime spree ends with life-threatening crash into U-District house

Authorities believe the same man was seen breaking into a home about 20 minutes later in the 4700 block of 11th Avenue Northeast. He then headed for a car dealership in the same block and sped off in a stolen vehicle, reports say.

The car struck several parked vehicles about 5 p.m. in the 5300 block of Ninth Avenue Northeast and then plowed into a house, driving beneath a porch, opening a hole in the wall and damaging a gas line, according to Seattle police reports.

Detectives seek help solving Columbia City slaying

Officers responded to a shooting report about 1 p.m. at Rainier Avenue South and South Genesee Street. A separate call came in from First Hill's Harborview Medical Center indicating a man had arrived with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers determined the two events were related.

Officers spotted a vehicle about 3 p.m. similar to a vehicle described by witnesses at the shooting near Rainier Avenue South and South Henderson Street, reports say.

No competently run city should have permitted last year's mess at Stewart and Boren. And neither should Seattle. (The mess this year, dangerous but late at night, is just up the street at Boren and Olive.)

City Hall should also rein in the contractors. Open up now-blocked lanes for the holiday season.  No blocking of additional lanes until after Boxing Day. Confusion at such places as Second and Stewart should be cleared up.
