Officers with the Seattle Police Department arrested seven protesters, five women and two men, for refusing to leave the intersection at 6th and Pike in downtown Seattle during a protest for the ‘Poor People’s Campaign’ on Saturday.

Police said the baby was found the night of May 30, in an unsanctioned encampment in the 900 block of Poplar Place South. The child was reported to officers by an encampment resident concerned for the child’s well-being, police said.

Camp Second Chance, located at 9701 Myers Way South, exceeded all of the above requirements. In the past year, 139 people experiencing homelessness were helped by the camp. Data from the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) shows that 26 percent of them moved into permanent housing.
Durkan’s proposal also makes official the city’s plans for 54 tiny homes in South Lake Union and 30 tiny homes at 18th and Yesler (after the city completes community outreach). The city expects the two tiny home villages to serve 103 people at a time.

SPD says an officer heard a noise inside the construction site in the 1300 block of Remington Court at around 3:30 a.m. The officer was working security for the fenced-off property. Upon further inspection, he found small fires set throughout the site along with shattered glass bottles.
