Man Arrested, Gun Recovered After Shots Fired Downtown

A 47-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after firing a handgun near 4th Avenue and Pike Street.  There were no reported injuries, but a nearby business did sustain damage to a window.

Child Turned Over to Protective Services After Concerned Encampment Resident Contacts Police

Police responded to an unsanctioned encampment in the 900 block of Poplar Place South around 9 pm on May 30th, where they learned residents of a tent were reportedly using methamphetamine and that the young child living in the encampment was not being properly cared for.

A woman called 911 just after 10 a.m. to report her 32-year-old ex-boyfriend showed up to her home in the 6500 block of 16 Avenue Southwest and began firing shots at the house.

Around 8 pm, the woman was walking near 8th Avenue and Republican Street when she saw a 33-year-old man yelling, swearing, throwing bottles and tossing a kitten in the air, allowing it to fall to the cement.

Just after 10 p.m. Witnesses began calling 911 to report a man had been stabbed near Alki Avenue Southwest and Harbor Avenue Southwest. Officers arrived moments later and began CPR on the man but he died at the scene.
