9 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, Tractor Tavern, 5213 Ballard Ave. N.W., Seattle; $12, 21 and older (206-789-3599 or tractortavern.com).

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio pushing its smooth sound beyond the 206
After signing with indie label Colemine Records, the vintage soul trio's debut album gets a wider release. Share story Some people aren't cut out for management. Handling egos and divergent interests to keep a group of people moving toward a shared, if ever-evolving goal isn't easy, and Delvon Lamarr wanted no part of it.

They’ll be opening at 1836 NW Market St., right next to Ballard Blossom.

Heritage Distilling to open Ballard location
Ballard isn't just about beer. The most awarded craft distillery in the country, Gig Harbor-based Heritage Distilling is planning to open a space in Ballard. "It's true, we are opening a production facility, tasting room and retail space in Ballard in late spring 2018," said Hannah Hanley, Heritage's chief marketing officer when we spotted the company's application for a liquor license.

Hundreds of 1970s Ballard photos added to Seattle Municipal Archives

The image at the top of this story is The International Schooner at 5213 Ballard Avenue NW in 1975. Today it is… The Tractor Tavern.

The Scandinavian Værsgo restaurant on the corner of NW Market St. and 22nd Ave. NW. in 1975. Today there’s a Starbucks in that spot. (Anyone know what’s on top of the building? Antennas?)

Olsen Furniture at 5354 Ballard Avenue NW, 1975. This is now Ballard Consignment.

E. Obermaier Machine Works at 5307 Ballard Avenue NW, 1975. Now it’s home to Bastille.

Ballard Ave NW and 20th Ave. NW, 1975. This is now Monster Art, Clothing and Gifts (left side).

Ballard Hardware at 5225 Ballard Avenue NW., 1975. It’s still in business today a short distance away. And what’s in the building now? Kings Hardware on the left, Rudy’s Barbershop on the right. And see that sign in the far right of the photo? That’s Hattie’s Hat.

Ballard Elks at 5301 Leary Ave. NW, 1975. They’ve since moved to a new location on Seaview Ave. But what’s in this spot now? The Olympic Athletic Club.

  • St. Alphonsus School reviewed by a parent

We like this school and after having had a student in the local public school are happy to be here. Perhaps the Colorado public schools are great but we did not find Seattle schools to be great. They are overcrowded and my child spent too much time preparing for and taking standardized tests. We feel the academics are quite good here. We like that St Al's has a room that is only a science lab and gets used by 4 the grade and up as well as science club. Even having a playground with equipment all the children can use is better than our public school. We have had a very good experience so far but I do wish the administrator was friendlier.

  • St. Alphonsus School reviewed by a parent

Based our families experience with private catholic schools, I would rate this school as average. Our family does not feel that the school provides a better quality education than the surrounding public schools. Our former school, located in Colorado, had an excellent science and math program, which is lacking at Saint Alphonsus. We are concerned that our child is now behind his peers in our home state. We have found the community to be welcoming, teachers are approachable. Building is very old and there are often issues that need to be addressed with plumbing and heat. If you are looking for a catholic education, you will find value here. If you are looking for a strong academics program, you are better off at the public school.
