Capitol Hill Pets | Max the kind of a circus dog on E Roy

Max, a seven-year-old Corgi Spaniel mix and Luke were waiting on coffee outside of Joe Bar after CHS got a peak at the inside of the under-construction new home of the Mexican Consulate. Max, while adorable, was only interested in meeting on his terms. Originally from California, he made his way to Seattle and is kind of a circus dog. Like, “if you throw a balloon up, he’ll boop it up in the air with his nose.”

Capitol Hill Historical Society | What happened with Galbraith House
When I saw the headlines last month that Galbraith House, a protected landmark would be demolished, my heart sank and I had to do a double take. How does a Capitol Hill landmark get cleared for demolition? The whole point of the landmarks ordinance is to prevent demolition not to enable it.

CHS Ink | Stephen’s sleeve

Stephen Brenden, bartender at Liberty: “I got the piano keys, curtain, treble clef, back when I was 18 at Artful Dodger. Kellie Delaney did all the work on my arm. I played a lot of music at the time, then I got the phonograph on the back. The idea is that you’re the puppeteer of your music. I got the oak tree after that as a reminder to keep working. I got the hook on my hand to signify digging deeper.”

Rent bidding services not a Capitol Hill problem… yet

Like most things newfangled, the problem seems to be first hitting the young renters of Seattle’s University District. But judging by other cities in the West Coast archipelago of tech economy driven urban boomtowns, the early effects of the new revenue models are probably already rippling through Capitol Hill’s rental market.
