    Mount Zion's Rev. McKinney remembered for civil rights legacy
    Rev. Dr. Samuel B. McKinney spent his life serving the community including some six decades of service at 19th and Madison. The pastor emeritus of Mount Zion Baptist Church died Saturday at the age of 91. McKinney left the pulpit in 1998 after 40 years leading Mount Zion and remained a steady presence for the congregation and the city's Black community.

    The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board has approved the permit for Bremerton's The Reef retail marijuana shop to move its operations to Capitol Hill's E Olive Way. The decision was posted this week after the multi-month application review process. The Reef ownership has not responded to our multiple attempts to talk with them about their plans on Capitol Hill.

    The hike to the summit of Mount Teneriffe takes around four or five hours, and, starting this May, a King County Metro bus ride from Capitol Hill Station. Starting May 19th, the Trailhead Direct program is expanding with routes connecting Broadway to the Mount Si and Teneriffe trails.
