The City of Seattle is hosting a series of Mandatory Housing Affordability open houses to show proposed zoning changes to Urban Villages. The open house for City Council Districts 5 and 6 is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Whitman Middle School, 9201 15th Ave. NW in Ballard.

Districts 5 and 6 include the following urban villages: Aurora-Licton Springs, Ballard, Bitter Lake, Crown Hill, Fremont, Greewood-Phinney Ridge, Lake City and Northgate.

    The four-story apartment building of 24 small efficiency dwelling units planned for 949 N. 80th St. has been appealed, with an appeal hearing scheduled for March 13. The appeal is for both Design Review and the Determination of Non-Significance for environmental issues. Both were granted conditional approval in late December.
