Off peak 255 and 545 need less than 10 minutes from Montlake to Westlake and Fifth and Pine.
Also don’t underestimate the access that Stewart and Denny provides to SLU. You can walk to the further parts is SLU in 10 minutes from Stewart and Denny. The closest Link takes you is Westlake station, which is much much farther away and now instead of one seat plus walk, it is three seats
